We are delighted that so many of you shared your tips, tricks, and traditions for doing Feldenkrais Project lessons during our Home Study “How To” contest!
To recap: anyone on the mailing list could leave a comment about their home study routine, and each commenter had one “raffle ticket”. We selected the winner by drawing one name. That person is…
Robin Marlowe!
…who wants to share with us that she’s from Taos, New Mexico, USA, and that she happens to already be a monthly Member-level donor. Thanks for entering, and for your ongoing support, Robin!
Robin left the following comment, short-and-sweet:
“I decide the night before that I will do a lesson, and which one, and set the intention to do that the next morning.”
Congratulations, Robin! We hope you enjoy the three months of Patron benefits.
Thank you to all who entered! You’ve created a wonderful resource for all our listeners. Click here to read all the entries or check out two more below. I especially hope that people just beginning home Feldenkrais study find your advice, so I’m trying out linking this new page in our Lessons menu and on our FAQ page!
At the risk of sounding hokey, we are ALL winners when people leave comments on our website. It helps Google find us, and your sharing does help everyone – from newbies to long-time Felden-fans – appreciate the power of ATM and encourage people to get on the floor! In that spirit, here are two more entries. I’m sharing these in particular because they’re so educational!
I treat it as my meditation time. Has to be quiet, uninterrupted, warm enough, and focused. No socks; gotta feel my feet. Pause the ATM if I need more integration/longer pauses or more tries to experiment with the movement. Also, I like to do them in the morning and then, before bed that night, lay down and play around with the parts of the ATM I remember, furthering the mind/body engagement of the lesson.

My tips for Feldenkrais home study….I’m glad I took a course of lessons with a teacher first just because it was good to really have it drummed into me not to do too much. I think I have that pinned now but it took a while. I like to get the room really warm because I like wearing thin clothes and using just the carpet and not a mat. This helps you feel far more. I couldn’t have done it at first but as you lose some of the tension in your body it becomes much easier to use quite hard surfaces and you get clearer feedback. I love this website too! It’s so generous to make all this available and means wherever I go I can have a Feldenkrais lesson.

Thank you again Robin, Barrie, and Mary, and all of our commenters, listeners, and donors for your support of the Feldenkrais Project! We wouldn’t be here without you.
