Rest and recharge with this ultra-relaxing winter treat from the The FP

We’ve got a special holiday gift from The Feldenkrais Project for our Patron-level donors! I’ve added an extra new lesson to our Patrons Monthly collection this December.

A bit of context: last year at this time I shared one of my absolute favorite Feldenkrais Project creations, The Liminal Lesson. It’s an exploration of the transitions between action and rest, and its title is a nod to the winter solstice, a liminal moment that I always appreciate as a Minnesotan. I feel better knowing we’ll soon transition to getting more sunlight instead of less.

Now the season of long winter rests has returned, so it’s the perfect moment for a followup lesson. Below you’ll find Making Peace: Smooth Breath, Skillful Bias, Supple Chest. It’s a workshop-style homebrew lesson with three related ATM explorations designed to calm and recharge your nervous system.

I think you’ll value it as a stress-buster in this challenging period of holiday planning and omicron anxiety. I certainly did: it sounds silly perhaps, but I benefit from my own lessons. After reviewing and editing this one yesterday I experienced much more peaceful breathing, and a welcome ease throughout my body and mind.

I hope you do too! Enjoy!

Happy holidays, and thanks for supporting The Feldenkrais Project.

Nick

PS – These lessons are both going to be part of Breathing with Vitality, our new Deep Dive course coming your way next week. Patrons have full access!

Making Peace: Smooth Breath, Skillful Bias, Supple Chest

Back-lying. Recorded in a “Rest and Recharge” themed class, this workshop-style lesson weaves together three related ATM explorations designed to calm and restore your nervous system. Balance your breath, find and enjoy your primary spinal bias, and then unlock more suppleness in your ribs and shoulders by gently moving within unusual constraints.
